Erick T Proposal: For tear down, testing, build (before Q & A approval) protocol

As the result of tool loss (disappearance?), and improperly prepared computers leaving the
build section, I am recommending that a clearly delineated set of guidelines  be adopted
and enforced by the community council itself (if such procedural structure exists I am not
aware of them and stand to be corrected!).  As the result of both my own personal experience and feedback from other volunteers, I feel  that procedural guidelines from the
secure use of and accountability for tool usage (as well as ongoing communication between
tear down supervisor/instructor, testing volunteers ,build volunteer/helpers, and freegeek orientation instructors) should be consistently practiced.  No machine should be placed in
the Q & A stack for approval that has not been thoroughly cleaned and cleared of all debris,
or which has not had the operating system properly installed (as occurred last week, if you can believe that!), or has not had each required step listed on the System Building Checklist properly checked, initialed, dated, and signed by the System Build Tech(s) in the check off column only.  (Staff Initials column  is to be done by Q & A staff!).

Erick T Proposal: Volunteer Rewards policy  Questions

When  I attempted to claim my $75.00  credit Volunteer Reward after the required 24 hours
completed last year I was told by the staff member I was referred to that she was not sure
what the rewards policy was and that she would "let'' me make the purchase with the $75.00
credit.  I raised a question about this procedure at the next CC meeting and was  told that there were several versions of the policy on-line and that  the 'founding' members had
established an initial policy, but they didn't know which one it was and would have to "get in
touch with them".   According to the last disposition concerning the communication at our
last CC meeting: "we  are waiting to hear from David Eads".

What I would like to see made 'crystal clear' on the volunteer rewards hours policy is:

1) For what period of time do subsequent volunteer hours after the $75.00 purchase credit
count for purchases from the geek store before expiration occurs, if in fact subsequent
hours apply at all after that point?

2) And what is the limit of accumulative hours that can be used for purchase in subsequent
years after the initial rewards are credited?

I welcome any input our more experienced volunteers have to offer concerning these issues I have raised.
